International Institute of Public Finance

The IIPF 2015 Congress organizers wish to give you some additional information on this year’s congress, to be held at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland, from 20 to 23 August 2015.

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) has been a long-time supporter of the IIPF and a promoter of research in developing countries. This year, they will continue their support by offering the potential for travel cost support to Dublin for researchers from Africa and other developing regions who have submitted a paper for the congress and plan to present this paper (upon acceptance) at the congress. Please see the attached application form for further details.

Like in previous years GIZ will offer an award for outstanding research by a presenter from Africa or other developing regions or for outstanding research on these regions. With this GIZ Public Policy Award the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) seek to recognize and support research discussing issues of relevance for developing countries. Submitters can apply for this award by clicking the respective box under “Contribution Details” in the ConfTool platform.

In addition, this year the GIZ will sponsor a Master Class for early-stage researchers from Africa and other developing regions. This Master Class will give participants a chance to present their papers and receive feedback on content and methodology from IIPF scholars who represent the forefront of the field. Submissions in all fields of public finance will be considered. The deadline for submission to this Master Class is 15 April 2015. The class will take place the morning of Thursday August 20 and finish just before the start of the congress. Details on the GIZ Master Class and on the application process can be found in the attached Call for applications; an application form for travel cost support is included in this Call.
