International Institute of Public Finance

BMZ/GIZ Public Policy Award 2014


In connection with the 2014 Annual Congress of the International Institute of Public Finance (IIPF) in Lugano, Switzerland, IIPF and GIZ – on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) – are pleased to announce the BMZ/GIZ Public Policy Award 2014.
The award recognizes and supports research discussing issues of relevance for developing countries.
                           
Two papers, out of all papers selected for presentation at the 2014 Annual Congress of the IIPF on the topic of Redesigning the Welfare State for Aging Societies, were rewarded. Their selection was headed by an Award Committee, consisting of the Chairs of the Scientific Committee of the Congress, one IIPF Vice President, a GIZ representative and one further member.

The winners of the BMZ / GIZ Public Policy Awards 2014 were:

Daniel Da Mata (IPEA, Brazil) for his paper The Effects of Fiscal Equalization on Housing Markets: Evidence from Brazil.

   

Sajjad Faraji Dizaji (Tarbiat Modares University, Iran) and
Mohammad Reza Farzanegan (CNMS Philipps-Universität Marburg, Germany) for their paper Military Spending and Political Institutions: Lessons for the Iran's Sanctions.
